Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wangshi Baochi Wan (WBW) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation and a national confidential formulary of China, primarily developed and manufactured by Essence Pharmaceutical Group (Jinghua Pharmaceutical Group). It is a multi-herb botanical drug containing ingredients such as rhubarb, Rhizoma Coptidis, Rhizoma Arisaematis, and Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae. Clinically, it is widely used in pediatrics to treat functional dyspepsia, spleen and stomach weakness, anorexia, diarrhea, and infantile malnutrition. Its pharmacological actions are described as clearing heat-fire, resolving phlegm, and purging intestinal stasis. Beyond pediatrics, research has explored its utility in treating alcoholic liver disease (ALD) by reducing liver damage markers and regulating gut microbiota, as well as its potential in managing metabolic conditions like hyperlipidemia and hypertension.
