This is a combination Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapy developed by Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of bronchial asthma. The therapy consists of two components: an oral 'warming lung and relieving asthmatic' granule and a topical 'securing origin and warming lung' emplastrum (patch). It is specifically designed for patients presenting with the 'cold' syndrome type of asthma according to TCM theory. The treatment protocol involves oral administration of the granules three times daily and the application of the emplastrum to specific acupuncture points for three hours once daily. This combination was evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical trial to assess its efficacy in managing acute episodes of mild-to-moderate bronchial asthma compared to standard Western treatments like theophylline and budesonide.
