Overview

WAS-2111 is an investigational oral small molecule being developed by Wassermann Medic in collaboration with Almirall for the treatment of Th2-driven inflammatory diseases, such as atopic dermatitis. It functions as a histamine H4 receptor (H4R) antagonist. The H4 receptor is primarily expressed on hematopoietic cells, including mast cells, eosinophils, and T cells, and plays a key role in mediating chemotaxis and cytokine production in inflammatory responses. By blocking H4R, WAS-2111 aims to inhibit the inflammatory cascade associated with Th2-mediated conditions. As of 2024, the compound is in Phase 1 clinical development to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics.
