Overview

HAL Allergy Holding develops Venomenhal, a subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) consisting of a lyophilized allergen extract of wasp (Vespula) venom. It is indicated for the prevention of anaphylaxis in patients with wasp venom allergy. The therapy works by administering gradually increasing doses of the venom extract to induce immunological tolerance. This process involves the stimulation of dendritic cells and the induction of regulatory T and B cells, which produce allergen-specific blocking antibodies (IgG1, IgG4, and IgA). These antibodies inhibit IgE-mediated anaphylactic responses to future wasp stings. The treatment typically spans three to five years to achieve long-term tolerance and has demonstrated high efficacy rates (91-96%).
