Waxsol

Waxsol is an over-the-counter otic preparation containing 0.5% w/v docusate sodium, a surfactant that acts as a cerumenolytic to soften and disperse impacted ear wax, facilitating its natural removal from the external auditory canal. By lowering surface tension and penetrating the cerumen mass, docusate sodium breaks up and emulsifies ear wax, improving clearance and relieving conductive hearing loss and discomfort associated with impaction. Waxsol is indicated as an aid in the removal of ear wax in adults, the elderly and children (with age restrictions varying by jurisdiction), and is typically used once nightly for up to two consecutive nights before reassessment.
