**WAY-163909** is a potent and highly selective small molecule agonist for the serotonin **5-HT2C receptor** (Ki ≈ 10 nM)[1][4][5][12][6]. It displays over 20- to 40-fold selectivity for 5-HT2C compared to 5-HT2A and 5-HT2B, and negligible affinity for most other receptors. It is used in research as a pharmacological tool to investigate the central effects of 5-HT2C receptor activation, including reduction in food intake, body weight, impulsivity, and modulation of dopamine release[1][4][6][9]. Preclinical studies suggest potential utility in obesity, psychostimulant abuse, schizophrenia, depression, and related CNS indications[1][3][4][9].
