Overview

WB007 is a highly potent small molecule alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist developed for ophthalmic use, specifically targeting glaucoma and ocular hypertension. It is being investigated as an intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowering agent with the potential to slow vision loss and possibly improve vision in patients with glaucoma. The drug was originally developed by Whitecap Biosciences, which was acquired by Bausch & Lomb in January 2025. Clinical trials have demonstrated that WB007 can significantly reduce IOP over a 14-day period without participant discontinuations, indicating promise as a future treatment option for glaucoma. Additional clinical development is planned for both glaucoma and geographic atrophy[1][3][5].
