Drug intelligence / Profile preview
WBF-010 is a **probiotic formulation** investigated for metabolic support in people with type 2 diabetes, composed of select strains of beneficial bacteria that are intended to modulate the gut microbiome and influence metabolic outcomes. In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial in type 2 diabetes, WBF-010 showed **no statistically significant improvement in glycemic control, glucose area under the curve (AUC)**, or glycated hemoglobin (A1c) compared to placebo over 12 weeks. The formulation was **well-tolerated with no safety signals**, and its use did not lead to meaningful changes in inflammatory markers or major disturbances in the gut microbiota profile. Modest increases in stool short-chain fatty acids like butyrate were observed, but these changes did not correlate with clinical endpoints in this study. WBF-010 was developed as part of the early clinical pipeline for microbiome-based therapies targeting metabolic diseases, but lacks robust evidence of efficacy.
