Drug intelligence / Profile preview
WBF-038 is a synbiotic formulation consisting of five probiotic strains combined with prebiotics, designed to improve metabolic health and bone density. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical trial led by the Mayo Clinic for its ability to prevent bone loss in patients with early-stage hormone receptor-positive breast cancer who are initiating adjuvant endocrine therapy with aromatase inhibitors. By modulating the gut microbiome, WBF-038 aims to mitigate the adverse effects of estrogen depletion, such as increased bone turnover, weight gain, and impaired glucose metabolism.
