Drug intelligence / Profile preview
WC10 is a research compound characterized as a functional antagonist of dopamine D3 receptors and dopamine D1/D2 receptors. It was investigated in a prepulse inhibition (PPI) assay in rats to identify D3-mediated antipsychotic properties in vivo. The compound demonstrated the ability to prevent PPI deficits induced by both the mixed D1/D2-like agonist apomorphine and the preferential D3 agonist pramipexole, suggesting its dual D3 and D1/D2 antagonist profile. This assay aims to detect D3 vs. D2 receptor-linked mechanisms of action, potentially offering a more favorable therapeutic profile for conditions like schizophrenia compared to existing antipsychotics.
