Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wei Tan Wai Fu Fang is a topical traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Oncology Department of Dongfang Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. It is an empirical multi-herb prescription used for the treatment of postoperative gastroparesis in patients who have undergone surgery for digestive tract cancers. The formula is applied externally to specific acupoints (transdermal application) and is indicated for patients presenting with a TCM pattern of local cold syndrome, specifically yang deficiency of the spleen and stomach. It has been studied in randomized, double-blind, multi-site clinical trials as an adjunct to conventional therapy to promote the recovery of gastric motility and alleviate symptoms associated with postoperative gastric dysfunction.
