Overview
Weierkang pills is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by Xijing Hospital of the Air Force Military Medical University. It is specifically indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG), a condition characterized by the loss of glandular epithelium and a known precursor to gastric adenocarcinoma. The formulation is used to manage patients with advanced mucosal changes, specifically those classified under OLGA/OLGIM stages II through IV, which include significant atrophy, intestinal metaplasia, and dysplasia. Weierkang pills are intended to provide symptom relief and, more critically, to promote the histopathological reversal of these precancerous lesions. As a complex herbal preparation, it is evaluated in real-world multicenter studies in China to confirm its safety and efficacy in preventing disease progression in high-risk gastritis patients.
