Overview

Weijing decoction (also known as Weijing Tang) is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula traditionally used to treat lung abscesses and respiratory conditions characterized by heat and phlegm accumulation. The formula typically comprises four primary herbal ingredients: *Phragmites communis* (Reed Rhizome), *Coix lacryma-jobi* (Job's Tears), *Prunus persica* (Peach Kernel), and *Benincasa hispida* (Winter Melon Seed). In modern clinical research, it is being investigated for its potential to reduce the risk of long-term acute exacerbations in patients with bronchiectasis, particularly those colonized with *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*. Its mechanism of action involves clearing pulmonary heat, resolving phlegm, and promoting the discharge of pus, which may help modulate the inflammatory environment in the lungs and improve clinical symptoms in patients with the syndrome of phlegm-heat accumulation.
