Overview

Weitong (also known as Vibrabot) is an innovative orally administered vibrating capsule system developed by Shanghai Ankon Medical Technology and commercialized in partnership with Luoxin Biotechnology. Approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in February 2022, it is indicated for the treatment of functional chronic transit-type constipation in patients who have not responded sufficiently to drug therapy. The device operates by performing intermittent mechanical massage at a set frequency for up to 6 hours as it traverses the gastrointestinal tract. This mechanical stimulation is designed to activate the enteric nervous system, awaken intestinal motility, and promote colonic peristalsis, thereby relieving constipation symptoms.
