Overview

Weizmannia coagulans BC99 (formerly known as Bacillus coagulans BC99) is a Gram-positive, spore-forming, lactic acid-producing probiotic strain developed and supplied by Wecare Probiotics. Originally isolated from the fecal sample of a healthy infant, it has received 'Generally Recognized as Safe' (GRAS) certification from the U.S. FDA. As a live biotherapeutic modality, BC99 acts by modulating the gut microbiota and influencing various systemic pathways, including inflammatory responses (Nrf2/NLRP3), neurotransmitter systems (5-HT, BDNF, MTL, AChE), and metabolic lipid pathways. It has been clinically investigated for its potential benefits in managing body weight and lipid profiles in overweight and obese individuals, as well as for conditions such as constipation, hyperuricemia, allergic rhinitis, and cognitive performance under sleep deprivation. It is primarily utilized as a dietary supplement and health product ingredient rather than an approved pharmaceutical drug.
