Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wen-Shen-Jian-Pi is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal preparation. The name translates to "Warm Kidney and Strengthen Spleen," reflecting its therapeutic principles in TCM. It has been investigated as a plaster for the treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and as an oral prescription for Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Diarrhea (IBS-D). For ALS, it aims to delay disease progression and improve clinical symptoms by reducing neuron degeneration, increasing normal mitochondria, and decreasing abnormal mitochondria and autophagosomes in spinal cord cells. In the context of IBS-D, it has been shown to improve visceral hypersensitivity by regulating the MEK/ERK signal pathway and downregulating TNF-α expression.
