Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wenban Humai Granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation primarily investigated for its potential to stabilize vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques. It is a modified version of the classical Wendan decoction, specifically formulated to enhance vascular protection. The therapeutic effect of Wenban Humai Granule is attributed to its ability to regulate the balance between collagen synthesis and degradation within the fibrous cap of atheromatous plaques. Research indicates that it modulates the expression and activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and their endogenous regulators, tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs), thereby increasing the structural integrity of the plaque and reducing the risk of rupture. It is primarily studied in the context of coronary heart disease and atherosclerosis management.
