Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wenjing Tongluo is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specifically designed to address oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neuropathy (OIPN). The formula is based on the TCM principles of warming the meridians and unblocking the collaterals to treat symptoms such as numbness, tingling, and cold-induced pain associated with platinum-based chemotherapy. It typically comprises a combination of herbs including *Cinnamomi Ramulus*, *Paeoniae Radix Alba*, and *Astragali Radix*. Mechanistically, Wenjing Tongluo is thought to improve local blood circulation, reduce the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α and IL-6, and protect peripheral nerve fibers from oxidative damage. It is commonly administered as an oral decoction or an external herbal soak (wash) for the hands and feet.
