Overview
Wentong Huoxue cream is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) topical formulation developed by the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. It is specifically designed for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), a common complication of type 2 diabetes. The cream is formulated based on the TCM principles of "warming the meridians" (Wentong) and "promoting blood circulation" (Huoxue) to address the underlying pathology of cold-dampness and blood stasis often associated with neuropathic symptoms. By applying the cream topically to affected areas, it aims to improve local microcirculation, alleviate pain and numbness, and potentially enhance nerve conduction velocity. It is currently being evaluated in randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials to establish its efficacy and safety as a non-invasive therapeutic option for DPN.
