Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wenyang Huoxue Fang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily utilized for the treatment of cardiovascular conditions, including chronic heart failure and coronary heart disease. The formula is constructed based on the TCM therapeutic principle of warming yang and activating blood (Wenyang Huoxue), targeting the syndrome of Yang deficiency and blood stasis. It typically comprises a combination of botanical ingredients such as *Astragalus membranaceus* (Huangqi), *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen), and *Aconitum carmichaelii* (Fuzi). Pharmacological studies indicate that the formula improves left ventricular function, reduces brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) levels, and mitigates myocardial fibrosis by modulating the TGF-beta1/Smad signaling pathway. It is frequently evaluated in clinical trials in China as an adjunctive therapy to standard Western medical care.
