Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wenyang Pingchuan Fang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by the Shanghai Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is specifically designed for the treatment of chest tightness variant asthma (CTVA) in children, a clinical phenotype of asthma where chest tightness is the predominant symptom. The formula is based on the TCM therapeutic principle of "warming yang to relieve asthma" (Wenyang Pingchuan). In clinical research, it is evaluated as an adjunctive therapy to standard Western medical treatments, such as inhaled budesonide and formoterol, to improve pulmonary function, reduce airway inflammation (as indicated by FeNO levels), and address TCM syndrome patterns associated with yang deficiency.
