Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wenyang Tongbi Granules + mecobalamin is a combination therapy being investigated for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN). Wenyang Tongbi Granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation based on the principle of warming yang and unblocking impediment, a classical approach to neuropathic conditions. Mecobalamin is an active form of vitamin B12 that supports nerve repair and myelination. The combination is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial sponsored by the Cancer Institute and Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, specifically targeting patients with breast or colorectal cancer experiencing paresthesia and pain during chemotherapy. The study aims to determine if the TCM intervention yields superior outcomes in sensory and motor function compared to mecobalamin alone.
