Overview
Wenyanglishui Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed and investigated by the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. It is primarily studied for the treatment of idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN). The decoction is formulated based on the TCM therapeutic principle of "warming yang and promoting diuresis" (Wenyang Lishui) to address renal dysfunction and edema. Research indicates that its mechanism of action involves the inhibition of podocyte apoptosis and the regulation of serum anti-phospholipase A2 receptor (anti-PLA2R) antibody expression, which are key factors in the pathogenesis and progression of IMN.
