Drug intelligence / Profile preview
West Nile Innovator is an inactivated (killed) virus vaccine indicated for the vaccination of healthy horses as an aid in the prevention of viremia caused by West Nile Virus (WNV). Developed by Fort Dodge Animal Health and now marketed by Zoetis, it was the first vaccine to receive USDA approval for the prevention of West Nile Virus in equines. The vaccine utilizes a killed virus platform adjuvanted with MetaStim to stimulate an active immune response against the viral envelope protein, thereby providing protection against the neurological disease and encephalomyelitis associated with WNV infection. It is administered via intramuscular injection and is a standard component of equine preventative healthcare programs in endemic regions.
