Drug intelligence / Profile preview
WestVac recombinant trivalent influenza vaccine (WSK-V104) is a recombinant protein-based trivalent influenza vaccine developed using an insect cell-baculovirus expression system (Sf9 cells). It is designed to protect against seasonal influenza by targeting hemagglutinin (HA) proteins from three influenza virus strains (typically two influenza A subtypes, H1N1 and H3N2, and one influenza B lineage, Victoria), in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations. Formulated with WestVac's proprietary novel adjuvant WGa01 (an MF59-like squalene-based oil-in-water emulsion), the vaccine is designed to elicit robust neutralizing antibody titers and T-cell immune responses, particularly in older adults. Because it is produced in insect cells rather than chicken eggs, it avoids egg-adaptation mutations and is suitable for individuals with egg allergies. WSK-V104 received Investigational New Drug (IND) approval from China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in February 2026.
