Overview

WFDC2-shRNA is an experimental short hairpin RNA (shRNA) construct designed to silence the expression of the WAP four-disulfide core domain protein 2 (WFDC2), also known as Human Epididymis Protein 4 (HE4). WFDC2 is a protein that is highly expressed in ovarian cancer and serves as a clinical biomarker and potential therapeutic target. By utilizing the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, WFDC2-shRNA targets WFDC2 mRNA for degradation, leading to a significant reduction in protein levels. Preclinical studies indicate that knockdown of WFDC2 in ovarian cancer cells can inhibit cell proliferation, promote apoptosis, and restore estrogen sensitivity by upregulating estrogen receptor beta (ERβ). This agent is primarily utilized in laboratory settings to investigate the molecular mechanisms of ovarian cancer progression and potential therapeutic strategies.
