**WFX-001** is an autologous engineered B-cell therapy developed by Walking Fish Therapeutics to treat **Fabry disease**, a rare lysosomal storage disorder caused by deficiency of the enzyme **alpha-galactosidase A (α-GAL A)**. The therapy genetically modifies patient-derived B cells to function as protein factories, enabling continuous in vivo production and systemic secretion of functional **α-GAL A** enzyme, thereby restoring enzymatic activity and addressing the underlying genetic defect. It leverages a proprietary B-cell engineering platform powered by MaxCyte's flow electroporation technology for ex vivo cell modification, with preclinical data demonstrating therapeutic enzyme levels both in vitro from patient B cells and in vivo following adoptive transfer.[1][5][7][8][13]
