Drug intelligence / Profile preview
WGa0401 (also known as WGa01) is a novel squalene-based oil-in-water emulsion nano-adjuvant developed by WestGene Biopharma. Designed as an MF59-like adjuvant, WGa0401 is formulated to enhance the adaptive immune response to vaccine antigens, such as recombinant protein, subunit, and inactivated vaccines. It has been launched under Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) in China, where it was successfully incorporated into recombinant COVID-19 vaccines (such as the trivalent and monovalent recombinant COVID-19 vaccines developed by WestVac Biopharma). WestGene's delivery platform employs proprietary ionizable lipid chemistry designed to enable preferential uptake in CD8+ T cells via systemic intravenous administration, bypassing the need for antibody conjugation to achieve cell-type selectivity.
