WGc-0201 is an investigational mRNA therapeutic vaccine being developed for the treatment of HBV-related diseases, specifically chronic hepatitis B infection and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It encodes hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related antigens (notably protein X/HBX), and is formulated as a lipid nanoparticle (LNP) injection. The mechanism involves immune activation and inhibition of HBX, aiming to elicit robust antigen-specific immune responses and overcome HBV-driven tumor or infection by immunostimulatory means. Early preclinical and clinical data suggest durable disease control and strong immunogenicity. It is being developed using proprietary mRNA and LNP platforms, with early-phase trials led by Chinese developers in heavily HBV-burdened populations[1][6][7][10][13][18].
