Overview
WGc-0401 is an investigational mRNA-based vaccine developed by WestGene Biopharma for the prevention of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-related diseases. It is specifically designed for use in immunocompromised populations, such as patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT), who are at high risk for EBV reactivation, viremia, and post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorders (PTLD). The vaccine delivers mRNA encoding EBV-specific glycoprotein antigens to host cells, which then produce these antigens to stimulate both humoral (neutralizing antibodies) and cellular (EBV-specific T-cell) immune responses. By enhancing EBV-specific immunity post-transplant, WGc-0401 aims to reduce the incidence of severe viral complications and improve clinical outcomes in transplant recipients.
