Drug intelligence / Profile preview
WH006 is a small molecule natural product-based drug being developed by Beijing Wehand-Bio Pharmaceutical for the treatment of obesity and adult weight loss. The drug is derived from mulberry twig alkaloids (referred to as SZ-A), which is the same active pharmaceutical ingredient used in the company's approved type 2 diabetes medication, Sangborn. WH006 is designed to act via the AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase) pathway to regulate energy metabolism and promote weight reduction. It is currently in Phase 2 clinical development and is administered orally in a tablet formulation.
