Wheatgrass juice (WGJ) is a nutritional supplement extracted from the young sprouts of the common wheat plant, *Triticum aestivum*. It is characterized by high concentrations of chlorophyll, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and enzymes. In clinical research conducted at the Rambam Health Care Campus (notably trial NCT01991080), WGJ has been investigated as a supportive therapy for patients with stage II-III colorectal cancer receiving adjuvant chemotherapy (such as capecitabine or 5-fluorouracil with oxaliplatin). The juice is hypothesized to exert anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects by influencing cytokine profiles (e.g., IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, and IL-12) and may help reduce chemotherapy-induced myelotoxicity, potentially improving patient quality of life and treatment adherence.
