white bahman

White bahman is a traditional herbal medicine derived from the dried roots of *Centaurea behen* L., a plant species native to the Middle East and frequently used in Iranian Traditional Medicine (Persian Medicine) and Unani medicine. It is primarily recognized for its aphrodisiac and spermatogenic properties and is traditionally indicated for the treatment of male infertility, sexual dysfunction, and as a general tonic for the heart and liver. In clinical research, such as trial NCT02998593, white bahman is often evaluated in combination with red bahman (*Salvia haematodes*) to improve semen parameters including sperm concentration, motility, and morphology in men with idiopathic oligospermia. Its mechanism of action is thought to involve the modulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, leading to changes in levels of testosterone, luteinizing hormone (LH), and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), as well as providing antioxidant protection to sperm DNA.
