White button mushroom extract is a concentrated nutritional supplement derived from the fungus *Agaricus bisporus*. It is studied in oncology for its potential anti-cancer and immunomodulatory properties, particularly in hormone-dependent cancers like breast and prostate cancer. [1, 3] The proposed mechanisms of action include the inhibition of the aromatase enzyme, which reduces the body's production of estrogen, and the suppression of androgen receptor activity. [1, 4, 6] Additionally, bioactive compounds in the extract, such as polysaccharides (e.g., beta-glucans), are believed to modulate the immune system by enhancing the activity of natural killer (NK) cells and other immune cells while reducing immunosuppressive cells in the tumor microenvironment. [2, 15, 19] Clinical trials have investigated its use to reduce the risk of breast cancer recurrence and to slow the progression of prostate cancer. [13, 14, 20]
