Overview

White cabbage extract is a natural product derived from the leaves of *Brassica oleracea var. capitata f. alba*. It is currently being researched for its potential therapeutic applications in treating cognitive dysfunction and neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's disease. The extract contains various bioactive secondary metabolites, most notably alpha-tocopherol and sinigrin. Its primary mechanism of action is the inhibition of Phosphodiesterase-4B (PDE4B), an enzyme involved in the regulation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels in the brain, which are critical for memory formation and neuroprotection. In preclinical studies, white cabbage extract has demonstrated significant molecular interaction with PDE4B, suggesting it may serve as a natural cognitive enhancer. It is often studied in combination with other natural extracts, such as coffee and red onion, to achieve synergistic inhibitory effects on PDE4B activity.
