Drug intelligence / Profile preview
White Flower Oil (also known as Bai Hua You) is a traditional topical analgesic and cooling liniment developed and marketed by Shanghai Xiao Fang Pharmaceutical (formerly Shanghai Yunjia Huangpu Pharmaceutical) under the brand name Xinlong. It is formulated with a blend of active ingredients including menthol, camphor, methyl salicylate, eucalyptus oil, borneol, and lavender oil. The preparation is widely used as an over-the-counter (OTC) remedy to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains associated with joint aches, sprains, headaches, and the common cold, as well as to alleviate nasal congestion and skin itching. It works primarily by activating transient receptor potential (TRP) channels (such as TRPM8, TRPV1, TRPV3, and TRPA1) to produce a cooling and counterirritant sensation, and by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes to reduce local inflammation and pain.
