Drug intelligence / Profile preview
White ginseng refers to the dried, unsteamed root of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer, a species of Asian ginseng. It is distinct from red ginseng, which is produced from the same plant species but undergoes a steaming process that alters its chemical profile. White ginseng has been used in traditional Asian medicine for centuries as a general tonic to restore homeostasis, increase energy, and promote longevity. Modern research suggests potential effects on cardiovascular function, glycemic control, improved cognitive performance, immune modulation, and reduction of stress and fatigue, though evidence is limited and largely preliminary. The primary active ingredients are ginsenosides, steroidal and triterpenoid saponins thought to modulate physiological responses and act as adaptogens. Some small studies report acute improvements in vascular parameters, but more research is needed for conclusive health claims.[1][2][4][6]
