Whole-virion adjuvanted H1N1 vaccine

A whole-virion adjuvanted H1N1 vaccine is an inactivated influenza vaccine containing the entire virus particle of the pandemic 2009 H1N1 strain. The virus is chemically inactivated and formulated with an aluminum-based adjuvant (commonly aluminum phosphate or aluminum hydroxide) to enhance immune response. This type of vaccine was developed for rapid immunization during the 2009 swine flu pandemic and has been shown to be immunogenic and well-tolerated across age groups, including children and adults. The mechanism of action involves presenting the full spectrum of viral antigens to the immune system, stimulating both humoral and cellular immunity against influenza A(H1N1). Notable products include Fluval P (Omninvest/Omnivest), which was used in Hungary[6][8][1].
