Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug is a whole virion inactivated vaccine developed to combat the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 virus, specifically targeting clade 2.3.4.4b. It is designed to induce a robust immune response by presenting inactivated, intact virus particles to the immune system. The vaccine aims to stimulate both humoral (antibody-mediated) and cellular (T-cell-mediated) immunity, providing protection against H5N1 infection and its associated disease. Research indicates its potential for cross-protection against both homologous and heterologous H5N1 strains. Some formulations are being explored for intranasal administration, with efforts to optimize antigen stability and immunogenicity. It is being developed for both human pandemic preparedness and veterinary applications, particularly in poultry.
