Overview

The whole virus inactivated influenza H5N1 vaccine, developed by the Jiangsu Province Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is a monovalent vaccine candidate designed to provide protection against the H5N1 subtype of the Influenza A virus. The vaccine utilizes a whole-virus platform where the H5N1 virus is inactivated (killed), typically through chemical treatment, to eliminate its ability to replicate while maintaining the structural integrity of its surface antigens. Upon intramuscular administration, the vaccine presents the entire viral proteome, including key antigens such as hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA), to the host immune system to stimulate the production of neutralizing antibodies and prime cellular immunity. This candidate has been investigated in Phase I clinical trials to evaluate its safety and immunogenicity across various dose levels (7.5μg, 15.0μg, and 30.0μg) in healthy adolescent and adult populations.
