Overview

The WHV surface antigen vaccine is an alum-adjuvanted vaccine designed to stimulate an immune response against the Woodchuck Hepatitis Virus (WHV) surface antigen. It has been studied in woodchucks with chronic WHV infection, where it was shown to break humoral and cell-mediated immune tolerance. The vaccine aims to reduce viral load, antigenaemia, and hepatic WHV DNA and RNA, inhibit the progression of chronic hepatitis, reduce chronic liver injury, and delay the onset of hepatocellular carcinoma, particularly when used in combination with antiviral therapy like clevudine.
