WIBP Omicron Inactivated COVID-19 vaccine

The WIBP Omicron Inactivated COVID-19 vaccine is an inactivated whole-virus SARS-CoV-2 vaccine specifically formulated against the Omicron variant. It is developed and manufactured by the Wuhan Institute of Biological Products, a subsidiary of China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm). The vaccine uses chemically inactivated SARS-CoV-2 virus grown in Vero cells and includes an aluminum adjuvant. Its primary indication is for the prevention of COVID-19 caused by the SARS-CoV‑2 Omicron variant. Like other inactivated vaccines, it works by exposing the immune system to a killed version of the virus, prompting an immune response without causing disease. Clinical trials have evaluated its safety and immunogenicity as both a primary series and as a booster following previous vaccination with either mRNA or other inactivated vaccines[2][3]. Data suggest that while protection against symptomatic infection with Omicron may be limited after two doses, booster doses can improve neutralizing antibody responses[5].
