WIG-2401

WIG-2401 is an extended-release small molecule formulation of guanfacine being developed by Whanin Pharmaceutical for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). As a selective alpha-2A adrenergic receptor agonist, it works by modulating signaling in the prefrontal cortex, which is thought to improve executive function, attention, and impulse control. WIG-2401 is categorized as an 'Incrementally Modified Drug' (IMD) or generic candidate designed to provide a bioequivalent or optimized alternative to the reference product, Intuniv. The drug is currently in early-stage clinical development, specifically undergoing bioequivalence studies (Phase 1), as part of Whanin Pharmaceutical's strategic expansion of its central nervous system (CNS) therapeutic portfolio in South Korea.
