Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Willospon DENTAL is a sterile, absorbable hemostatic medical device composed of purified pork gelatin with a collagen-like structure. Developed by lege artis Pharma, it is specifically designed for local hemostasis in dental and orthodontic surgical procedures. The sponge functions by absorbing up to 30 times its own weight in blood and wound secretions, which physically stabilizes blood coagulation and provides a porous scaffold that stimulates the ingrowth of connective tissue. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of alveoli and surgical cavities following tooth extractions, root tip amputations, and the removal of cysts or tumors. The sponge is fully resorbable within approximately three weeks and can be used as a carrier for antibiotics or thrombin to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
