Drug intelligence / Profile preview
WJ01 is a small molecule inhibitor of Exportin-1 (XPO1) developed by Wigen Biomedicine Technology (Shanghai). XPO1 is a critical nuclear export protein that transports various cargo, including tumor suppressor proteins (TSPs) like p53, p21, and BRCA1, from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. In many cancers, XPO1 is overexpressed, leading to the excessive export of TSPs and the evasion of apoptosis. WJ01 inhibits XPO1, thereby restoring the nuclear localization and functional activity of TSPs, which triggers cell cycle arrest and programmed cell death in tumor cells. The compound is currently being evaluated for its potential in treating oncology indications.
