WJ07 is a small molecule inhibitor of Kinesin Family Member 18A (KIF18A) currently under development by Wigen Biomedicine Technology (Shanghai) for the treatment of cancer. KIF18A is a kinesin motor protein that plays a critical role in regulating chromosome alignment and spindle tension during mitosis. By inhibiting KIF18A, WJ07 induces mitotic arrest and subsequent cell death, specifically targeting cancer cells characterized by chromosomal instability (CIN). This mechanism offers a potential therapeutic window, as normal cells are generally less dependent on KIF18A for successful mitosis compared to CIN-high tumor cells. The drug is part of Wigen's oncology pipeline focusing on targeted therapies for solid tumors.
