Overview

WJ09 is a small molecule inhibitor targeting **Ubiquitin-Specific Protease 7 (USP7)**, also known as Herpesvirus-Associated Ubiquitin-Specific Protease (HAUSP). Developed by Wigen Biomedicine Technology (Shanghai), the compound is designed for the treatment of various malignancies, including solid tumors and hematological cancers. USP7 is a deubiquitinating enzyme that plays a pivotal role in regulating the stability of proteins involved in tumor suppression and DNA repair, most notably the p53/MDM2 axis. By inhibiting USP7, WJ09 prevents the deubiquitination and stabilization of MDM2, leading to MDM2 degradation and the subsequent stabilization and activation of the p53 tumor suppressor protein, which induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells. The program has advanced into early clinical development, with the sponsor receiving IND approval for the candidate (often referenced as WJ01024) in China.
