Drug intelligence / Profile preview
WL1006 is an intranasal formulation of semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, being developed by Shanghai World Leader Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the treatment of obesity and overweight conditions. As a GLP-1 receptor agonist, it mimics the action of the endogenous hormone to enhance insulin secretion, suppress glucagon release, and slow gastric emptying, while also acting on brain centers to increase satiety and reduce appetite. This nasal spray delivery system is designed as a non-invasive alternative to subcutaneous injections, aiming to improve patient compliance and convenience for long-term weight management. It is currently undergoing Phase I clinical evaluation for safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics.
