WM3835 is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of Lysine Acetyltransferase 7 (KAT7), also known as HBO1 or MYST2. KAT7 is a member of the MYST family of histone acetyltransferases and serves as a critical co-activator for DNA replication and gene transcription. By inhibiting the acetyltransferase activity of KAT7, WM3835 modulates the acetylation levels of histones (such as H3K14) and non-histone proteins like Lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA). In preclinical studies, WM3835 has demonstrated efficacy in suppressing the Warburg effect and inhibiting the proliferation and metastasis of head and neck squamous carcinoma (HNSCC). It has also been used as a research tool to investigate the role of KAT7 in maintaining the proliferative capacity of megakaryocyte progenitor cells and preventing immune-biased senescence during platelet manufacturing.
