Overview

WOKVAC is a DNA plasmid-based cancer vaccine designed to induce a Th1-selective immune response against breast cancer. It encodes epitopes from three tumor-associated antigens: HER2, IGFBP-2 (Insulin-like growth factor binding protein 2), and IGF-1R (Insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor). The vaccine aims to stimulate the immune system, particularly T-helper type 1 (Th1) immunity, to recognize and attack tumor cells expressing these antigens. WOKVAC is being developed primarily for use in patients with HER2-positive breast cancer, including those receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy and HER2-targeted monoclonal antibody therapy before surgery[4][6][8]. Clinical trials have shown that it is generally well tolerated, with most adverse events being mild injection site reactions or fatigue[5].
